Assessment

At Villiers, we believe that assessment serves curriculum.  It is crucial in identifying how effectively students are learning in their classes but will never dominate the daily lives and learning of staff and students.

 Formative Assessment

This is the daily process that occurs in Villiers classrooms to diagnose the progress of students and shape classroom learning.

 Examples of formative assessment include:

  • Questioning and discussion
  • Verbal feedback
  • Written feedback
  • DIRT (Directed Improvement and Reflection Time)
  • ‘Green Pen’ improvement tasks
  • Self-assessment
  • Peer-assessment
