Villiers Counselling Service

At Villiers High School, we are committed to supporting the emotional well-being of our students through dedicated in-house mentoring and specialist support provided in partnership with East to West.

Through this partnership, students can access support from a Relational Counsellor, who works to build strong, trusting relationships with young people and supports their emotional and pastoral well-being. Where appropriate, this work may also consider the wider family context and the relationships and experiences that may be affecting a young person.  The counsellor provides a range of therapeutic interventions and supportive approaches tailored to individual need. This holistic approach looks beyond behavioural or academic concerns and considers factors such as family relationships, friendships, social experiences and emotional well-being, with the aim of supporting positive and sustainable outcomes.

Students may also receive support from a Relational Support Worker, who helps young people develop greater confidence and ownership in how they respond to challenging situations. Through mentoring, coaching, reflection and signposting to additional support, students are encouraged to develop strategies that help them manage difficulties and move forward positively.

Counselling and relational support may help young people who are:

  • experiencing bullying, loss or bereavement;

  • experiencing difficulties in relationships with family members or friends;

  • struggling to manage anger, anxiety or other strong emotions;

  • experiencing changes or challenges in their personal or family life;

  • finding it difficult to cope with situations in or outside school; or

  • in need of additional emotional or pastoral support.

Where concerns indicate that a student may also have additional learning or SEND needs, appropriate information can be shared with the school's SEND team so that further support can be considered. For more information about our counselling and emotional well-being support, please contact your child's Head of Year or the Safeguarding Team.
We are committed to ensuring that every student feels listened to, supported and able to access the help they need to thrive both personally and academically.
