Safeguarding

At Villiers High School, we take safeguarding extremely seriously and fully understand that it is everyone's responsibility.

We understand that safeguarding happens everyday; from conversations in the playground to workshops and assemblies which raise awareness, educate and empower our students to keep themselves safe. All of our staff that work at Villiers are highly trained in dealing with Safeguarding issues and how to spot the signs and symptoms of the four categories of child abuse. Our staff know what to do if they are worried about a child and understand contextual safeguarding influences that could influence a child's school life. All our staff understand what to do if a disclosure is made to them and the importance of reporting this, so help can be offered, in a timely and accurate fashion, to best support the needs of our students,

As well as the assemblies, PSCHE curriculum, Form Time activities and specialist workshops arranged for our students each year, we also have a significant number of information leaflets and a confidential email address, for any student, who wishes to learn more or access further support, that may not want to speak to someone face-to-face.

Students at Villiers feel very safe. With the ethos we have created, the infrastructure around the site, including CCTV, instances

of bullying are extremely low and if any occur, they are dealt with to the fullest extent.

We track all of our concerns using an electronic reporting system, called MyConcern, which allows us to monitor students over

a period of time, communicate and share information with others, including external agencies in an efficient and secure manner.

Our policies are up-to-date and in line with statutory guidance from Keeping Children Safe in Education 2019 https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/keeping-children-safe-in-education--2 and

Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/working-together-to-safeguard-children--2

Everyone at Villiers understands their duty to report any concerns around FGM, bullying which includes Homophobic, Biphobic

and Transphobic, sexual harassment or sexual assault between two students and the Prevent Duty, to the necessary authorities,

including reporting it to the police and Children's Social Services.

By working closely together as professionals everyday, with your child's best interest at the heart of everything we do, children

will continue to be safeguarded to the highest standard at Villiers High School.
